Description

The Wat Arun Dawn Temple is one of Bangkok's most iconic landmarks. Its 70-meter-high central tower (prang) decorated with colorful porcelain is stunning at any time of day, especially during sunrise and sunset.

The history of the temple dates back to the Ayutthaya period, and its present form was completed in 1851. Wat Arun is dedicated to the Hindu god Aruna, the personification of the rays of the rising sun.

The interior of the ubosotu (ordination hall) is decorated with a golden statue of Buddha and magnificent paintings depicting Buddhist stories. A climb to the main prang will reward you with a breathtaking view of the Chao Phraya River and the city skyline.
