Mezquita

The Mezquita is one of the world's greatest monuments of Islamic architecture, combining Muslim and Christian styles in one place.

Originally a Visigothic church, it was converted into a mosque by the Moors and then into a cathedral by the Christians in 1236.

A stunning prayer hall with more than 800 columns, distinctive striped arches and a richly decorated mihrab covered with gold mosaics are just some of the unique features of the site.

Walking through the Mezquita, one can admire the perfect blend of different cultures and religions that have shaped Córdoba's history over the centuries.
