Description
The Church of the Virgin Mary in Dresden is an architectural marvel that rose from the ashes. This Baroque temple with its distinctive 'Stone Bell' dome is not only a symbol of the city's rebirth, but also a remarkable work of engineering comparable to the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
Destroyed in the 1945 bombing, it was painstakingly rebuilt between 1993 and 2005, combining original fragments with new elements.
The interior impresses with a central altar and a 43-voice organ played by Johann Sebastian Bach himself. It is a place where history, spirituality and art create an unforgettable experience.
