Description
Wat Suthat Thep Wararam Ratchaworamahawihan is one of the oldest and most impressive Buddhist temples in Bangkok, also known as the Giant Swing Temple.
This 19th century building impresses with its traditional Thai architecture with high ceilings and sloping roofs. Inside the main shrine are magnificent 19th century wall paintings depicting life scenes in dark colors and an impressive 8-meter tall Buddha statue.
A distinctive feature of the complex is a huge red teak swing, originally used in Brahminical rituals and later incorporated into Buddhist ceremonies.
