Description
Queen Victoria Memorial is an impressive monument located in front of Belfast City Hall. This 11-foot statue depicts a middle-aged Queen Victoria holding a scepter and royal apple, dressed in a long gown.
The statue is surrounded by allegorical figures symbolizing the textile and shipbuilding industries - on the left a seated girl with a spindle, and on the right a male figure with a hammer.
Unveiled in 1903 to commemorate the queen's jubilee, the monument is the work of sculptor Thomas Brock and is an important part of the city's cultural heritage.
