Description
Postenturm is a historic watchtower that is part of the medieval city walls of Bacharach.
From its top you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Rhine valley, picturesque vineyards and the historic Old Town.
It's an ideal spot for photography enthusiasts, especially during sunset, when the sun's rays are reflected in the river's waters.
The tower also offers views of Stahleck Castle and the ruins of the Wernerkapelle Chapel, making it a great spot to learn about the region's rich history.

Jeff C8 months agoShort steep hike with a beautiful view. As can be seen by my over exposed shots the light would probably be better in the afternoon for photos.
Dave Schutt2 years agoAlthough overcast & raining on the day of our visit, it was well worth the walk up to the Postenturm for the views over the town & along the Rhein river.
Pavel D.3 years agoPicturesque and very photogenic place capturing the beauty of Rhine Valley in one snapshot.
It was only a short 5 to 10 minute walk from the Barabach village, either on the main path (more comfortable) or through the vineyard (steep and a bit dangerous as I almost slipped on the gravel). The entry to the tower was free and after climbing a couple of floors we were rewarded by a stunning view of the village, Rhine valley and the Barabach castle.
It was worth the effort and the sweat to come all the way up as this kind of view is hard to find! Visited in May 2022.Related categories
