Description
RSPB Winterbourne Downs is a unique nature reserve located in the chalk hills of Wiltshire. This 200-acre area has been transformed from a farm into a rich wildlife refuge.
The reserve is famous for its rare Stone-curlews birds, which can be observed from June to September. Visitors can also look out for other species, such as skylarks, pipits and kestrels.
There are two trails: a shorter one (1.2 km) leading to the Stone-curlews observation post, and a longer one (2.4 km) running through the yew forest. The reserve also offers facilities for the disabled, including a special path for wheelchairs.
