Description

Goat Island is one of the oldest civic parks in Germany, designed by famous garden architect Peter Joseph Lenné between 1834 and 1845.

This unique park stretches about 1,000 meters in length and impresses with its diversity - more than 50 species of trees, an artificial waterfall, a stream, a fountain and ponds create a picturesque landscape.

The northern end of the park is adorned with the Schöpferdenkmal, a monument commemorating Lenné and the residents who contributed to the creation of this green corner. An ideal place for a quiet stroll amidst nature and history.

avatarTamsin Gorecka3 years agoBeautiful little natural space along the bank of the Öder River that comprises of a children's play area, cafe and various ecosystem/horticultrually designed spaces to enjoy. I particularly like the reflection pool lined with wet moss rocks, I find this area particularly peaceful to sit on a warm summer day. The cafe also hosts things for children - on the second occasion we visited the park there were many bouncy castles to play on for a 3 euro fee, which allowed you access all day. The soft ice cream from the cafe is also delicious. Definitely worth visiting for anyone, whether tourist or resident. This has become our regular summer walking space.
