Description
Alney Island Nature Reserve is an 80-acre wetland reserve located on the banks of the River Severn, less than a kilometer from downtown Gloucester.
It is a nature lover's paradise, offering a variety of habitats for waterfowl, amphibians and insects. Historic bridges designed by Victorian engineers Brunel and Telford add to the site's unique character.
The preserve offers scenic views of the surrounding countryside, and hiking and biking trails encourage active recreation. At certain times of the year, you can enjoy the Severn Bore phenomenon - a spectacular tidal wave.
