Pomnik Odkrywców

The Discovery Monument is an impressive caravel-shaped monument commemorating the Portuguese era of geographic discovery.

Rising 52 meters, the structure is adorned with 33 statues of explorers, cartographers and scientists, including Henry the Sailor and Vasco da Gama.

A viewing platform at the top offers a breathtaking panorama of Lisbon and the Tagus River. At the foot of the monument is a huge wind rose 50 meters in diameter with a world map showing the routes of Portuguese naval expeditions.
