Teatro Lethes

Teatro Lethes is a historic theater in the heart of Faro that combines a rich history with modern art.

Dating back to 1605, the building, originally a Jesuit college, impresses with its Latin inscription 'coins oblectando' (teaches by entertaining) and its 19th century interior with lodges and first floor.

The theater boasts a unique achievement - it was here in 1898 that the first film screening in Faro took place. Today, managed by the Algarve Theatre Company, it offers a variety of performances - from classical music and fado to dance and experimental theatrical forms.
