Pomnik Ofiar Komunizmu w Pradze

The Memorial to the Victims of Communism in Prague is a moving monument commemorating the victims of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia from 1948-1989.

Seven life-size bronze statues, designed by sculptor Olbram Zoubek, depict the gradual disintegration of human beings - symbolizing the degradation of life under Communist rule.

A bronze plaque at the base of the staircase reports the numbers of victims: more than 205,000 arrested, 170,000 forced into exile, 4,500 who died in prisons.

It is not only a tourist attraction, but above all an important history lesson and a warning for future generations.
