Pomnik Alfonsa XII

The Alfonso XII Monument is an impressive monument located in the heart of Retiro Park in Madrid. This majestic structure, designed by José Grases Riera, was built over a period of 20 years (1902-1922) and is a true masterpiece of neoclassical art.

The centerpiece is a bronze equestrian statue of King Alfonso XII, surrounded by a semicircular colonnade. The monument is decorated with numerous sculptures depicting Peace, Freedom and Progress, as well as stone lions and mermaids at the steps leading to the lake.
