Description
The Bialowieza Freight Railway Station is a unique architectural monument dating back to 1897, built during the time of the Russian tsars.
It is characterized by richly ornamented gables and window frames, reminiscent of imperial Russian architecture and Swiss-style villas.
After an exemplary restoration in the 1980s, which preserved the original interior layout and heating system, the building received awards for best preserved monument.
It now houses a restaurant where visitors can enjoy a meal in historic surroundings. The place was also a film set in Andrzej Wajda's 'Biesies'.
