Description
The Church of St. Gertrude is a unique architectural monument in Darlowo, built in the Scandinavian Gothic style. Its unusual hexagonal shape resembling a rotunda sets it apart from other religious buildings in the region.
The interior impresses with a star vault with interesting polychromes and five balconies with balustrades decorated with paintings of the four evangelists. A neo-Baroque organ prospectus and a 19th-century organ complete the artistic character of the church.
According to local accounts, the church may have been associated with the Templar Order, which adds to its mystery and historical depth.
