Description
Kamieniec Castle is a fascinating medieval defensive fortress built in 1348 by King Casimir the Great.
Situated on a rocky hill, the castle ruins impress with their monumental architecture and rich history. Visitors can admire a preserved Gothic portal, a reconstructed stone chapel and a two-story watchtower with a historical exhibition.
The castle has inspired many artists, including Jan Matejko, and Aleksander Fredro wrote the famous comedy 'The Revenge' based on a family dispute between the Firlej and Skotnicki families.
