Description
The Przemyśl Fortress - Fort VIII 'Lêtownia' is a fascinating monument of defensive architecture from the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This concrete artillery fort is part of one of the largest fortresses in Europe of the early 20th century.
During World War I, it played a key role in the defense against Russian troops, being one of the farthest forts of the Siedliska Group. Today it delights history buffs with its construction and picturesque location among the wooded hills of the Carpathian Foothills.
The fort is open to the public, and nearby hiking and biking trails allow visitors to explore other elements of the fortress complex.
