Description
The site of the former German Nazi concentration camp Plaszow (Plaszow) is a place of great historical significance. Established in 1942, the camp, initially as a place of forced labor, became a concentration camp where some 35,000 prisoners, mostly Polish Jews, were held.
The site is known for the cruelty of its commandant Amon Göth and its links to the story of Oskar Schindler, who saved many of the Jews working in his factory.
Today, the camp site provides a space for reflection and education about the tragic events of the Holocaust, being an important point on the historical map of Krakow.
