Description
Prisoner Field No. 3 is a poignant piece of the history of the Majdanek concentration camp in Lublin. Prisoners here were housed in windowless barracks, where light reached only through skylights, compounding the inhumane conditions.
After the Germans withdrew, starting in August 1944, the site served as an NKVD filtration camp, from where some 250 people were later transferred to the camps.
This harrowing site is an important educational element for understanding the atrocities of World War II and is part of a larger museum complex.
