Description
Szczeliniec Wielki is a fascinating rock formation in the Sudetes, rising 919 meters above sea level and part of the Crown of the Polish Mountains.
This place delights with unique rock formations with intriguing names: 'Hen', 'Mammoth', 'Camel' or 'Elephant', which were formed as a result of sandstone erosion.
An unusual phenomenon is 'Hell' - a fissure 100 meters long and 20 meters deep, where there is a specific microclimate that allows snow to last until mid-June.
A historical curiosity is that the mountain was conquered in 1790 by Franz Pabel, and among its visitors were Johann Wolfgang Goethe and John Quincy Adams.
