Description
Streedagh Beach is a 3km long sandy beach in County Sligo, offering a unique combination of history and nature.
It is a place known for a tragic event in 1588 when three ships of the Spanish Armada crashed during a storm, which is commemorated by a special monument.
The beach is ideal for experienced surfers thanks to reefs and strong currents. Geology enthusiasts will find 400-million-year-old coral fossils, while walkers will enjoy views of Benbulbin Mountain and the dunes. Portable toilets and lifeguards are available in summer.
