Description
Plaza de la Constitución is Guatemala's most important and largest plaza, created in 1776. Surrounded by impressive monuments such as the National Palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Library, it is the true heart of the city.
It is a place full of history - it has witnessed both tragic events and joyous celebrations. The square is bustling with street performances, local delicacies and the opportunity to admire the colonial architecture.
It's best visited in the early morning or late afternoon, when the light is perfect for photos and the crowds are smaller. It's a great starting point for exploring Guatemala's cultural richness.
