Plac Sułtana Ahmeda

Sultan Ahmed Square is the historic heart of Istanbul's Sultanahmet district, named after the ruler of the Ottoman Empire who reigned from 1703 to 1730.

The centerpiece of the square is the magnificent Ahmed III Fountain from 1728 - a true masterpiece of Ottoman architecture with intricately decorated marbles and calligraphic panels with poetry dedicated to water.
