Description
Parque Nacional Santa Rosa is a unique national park in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The park is famous for the historic Hacienda Santa Rosa, where Costa Rican forces defeated William Walker's mercenaries in 1856. The site now functions as a museum and memorial to this important event.
The park has as many as 10 unique natural habitats, ranging from savannas and deciduous forests to wetlands and mangroves. It is a nature lover's paradise with over 250 species of birds and 115 species of mammals.
