Description
Slieve Bloom Mountains is Ireland's largest state nature reserve, covering more than 2,300 hectares. Despite its moderate altitude (the highest peak, Arderin, is 526 meters), it offers some of the most beautiful views in the country thanks to its central location on the island.
It is a nature lover's paradise with a unique ecosystem of mountain peat bogs and rare bird species, including the Northern Harrier.
Explore three marked hiking trails, a viewing platform on the Ridge of Capard, or traverse the 71.6 km Slieve Bloom Way. For adrenaline seekers, there are great biking trails and horseback riding opportunities from 13th century Kinnitty Castle.
