Description
Parc de Mariemont is a 45-hectare park with a rich history dating back to Gallo-Roman times. It is named after Marie of Hungary, who chose the site for her hunting grounds in the 16th century.
The park delights with more than 2,000 species of trees, including rare specimens like Acer pseudoplatanus L. 'Atropurpureum' with purple leaves. Here you will find beautiful collections of rhododendrons, azaleas and a circular rose garden.
A unique attraction is the museum with an impressive collection of antiquities from Greece, Egypt, Rome and the Far East, as well as sculptures by famous artists, including original casts of works by August Rodin.
