Description
Palatul Széchényi is an impressive four-story monument in the heart of Victory Square in Timișoara. Designed in the Art Nouveau style, this unique building impresses with balconies connecting the upper floors, triangular pediments with bas-reliefs, and a distinctive corner tower.
Built between 1911 and 1913 according to plans by architect László Székely, the palace played an important role during the December 1989 Revolution. Scenes taking place in front of the nearby cathedral were filmed from its windows.
Today, the first floor houses numerous stores and the Helios art gallery, making it an interesting spot for history and art lovers.
