Description
The Minoan Palace at Knossos is one of the best preserved monuments of the Minoan civilization in Crete. This impressive 22,000-square-meter complex impresses with its intricate network of corridors, courtyards and rooms, reminiscent of the Minotaur's mythical labyrinth.
The palace is famous for its beautiful frescoes, including the famous 'Leaping over the Bull', and sophisticated architecture attesting to the cultural sophistication of the Minoans. A central courtyard measuring 25 meters by 50 meters was the heart of the palace and the site of ceremonies.
It is a fascinating journey back in time to one of Europe's oldest civilizations, offering insights into life, art and culture 4,000 years ago.
