The palace's interiors dazzle with a wealth of marble, silk carpets and 2,800 crystal chandeliers, the largest of which weighs more than 2.5 tons. The building conceals more than 1,100 rooms on 12 above-ground and 8 underground levels.

Beneath the palace is a network of 20 kilometers of tunnels connecting it to other important institutions of the city, including a nuclear shelter. It is a remarkable combination of history, politics and architectural grandeur.
