Description

Nyhavn is a picturesque canal in the heart of Copenhagen, famous for its colorful 17th- and 18th-century townhouses that make up the city's postcard-perfect landscape.

Founded between 1670 and 1673 by King Christian V, this historic harbor was once a bustling center of maritime trade, and today is one of the most charming places in the Danish capital.

Nyhavn was home to the famous Danish fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen, who wrote some of his most famous tales here. Today, it's a great place to stroll along the waterfront, photograph the colorful architecture or relax in one of the many restaurants serving traditional Danish delicacies.

avatarMichael W (Michaelw714)2 weeks agoAlthough the area is very touristy, a visit here is a must do. Also, I strongly recommend that you take the canal tour. It is only an hour long what is so relaxing to be on the water. And you get a surprisingly thorough tour of the city through the canals and under all the bridges.
avatarAlicjaa month agoNyhavn is just that spot in Copenhagen you can’t miss. Colorful buildings, boats lined up in the canal, cozy cafés, it’s like walking through a postcard. Even if it’s packed with tourists, the vibe is still super chill. Great place to grab a drink, people-watch, or just sit and enjoy the atmosphere. We came back more than once because it’s just that nice. Total must-see! 🤍❤️✨
avatarObaid Ibrahima week agoNyhavn is one of the most beautiful spots in Copenhagen and absolutely worth a visit. The colorful buildings along the canal make for amazing photos, and the whole area has a relaxed, charming vibe. I visited on a weekday and had no trouble walking around or finding a good place to sit and enjoy the view. There’s no ticket required, and it’s a great place to just stroll, have a drink, or hop on a canal tour if you want. It feels both historic and lively at the same time. Highly recommended for first-time visitors to the city. Would I recommend it? ✅ Yes, a must-see when in Copenhagen.
