Description
Schwetzingen Palace is a unique monument with a rich history dating back to 1350. Originally a small castle, later the summer residence of the prince-electors of the Holy Roman Empire, it impresses with its combination of architectural styles.
The palace gardens, recognized as a cultural heritage of European significance, combine formal French style with English landscape. More than 100 sculptures, a Moorish-style mosque, a marble bath house and a temple of Apollo create an extraordinary atmosphere.
The Rococo palace theater, famous for its excellent acoustics, still hosts cultural events, including the prestigious Schwetzingen Festival.
