Wistman's Wood

Wistman's Wood is one of the highest-altitude oak forests in the UK, full of twisted, moss-covered trees that create an almost fairy-tale-like landscape.

It is a place of great natural significance, home to more than 100 species of lichens, including the rare horsehair lichen.

Numerous legends surround the forest, including tales of the Druids who were said to have planted it, and of the devilish Wisht Hounds that are said to roam the moors at night.
