Description
UNESCO-World Heritage Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona is a unique geological site located in the eastern Swiss Alps. The site is famous for its phenomenal demonstration of mountain building through continental collision, showcasing the Glarus Overthrust - a dramatic example of slip faults.
It's a geology and nature lover's paradise, where 250-300 million years ago the Verrucano rocks were slid over younger Flysch rocks. The area includes glaciated mountains, narrow river valleys and unique landscapes.
You can take fascinating hiking trails, such as the challenging route from Elm to Flims, or use cable cars for a less demanding experience.
