Description
The Monteverde Misty Forest Reserve is a remarkable protected area of more than 14,200 hectares located in the province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Created in 1972, it is home to a staggering biodiversity - more than 2,500 plant species, 400 bird species and 120 species of reptiles and amphibians.
The reserve is famous for its more than 500 species of orchids, as well as opportunities to observe rare species such as the quetzal and the three-legged bellbird. A network of trails more than 13 km long allows you to discover the mysteries of the misty forest, and suspension bridges offer unforgettable views from the treetops.
