Parque Natural da Ria Formosa is a unique lagoon system on the Algarve coast in southern Portugal. This sprawling park of 18,400 hectares impresses with its diverse ecosystems - from canals, islands and marshes to sandy beaches and salt lakes.
It is a paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers. The symbol of the park is a long-legged bird - the purple sultana. You can also meet Portuguese water dogs helping fishermen here.
