Description
Lisburn Castle Gardens is a historic oasis of greenery in the heart of Lisburn, once home to the 17th-century manor house of the Conway family.
The gardens have been restored, preserving the original 17th-century terraces and 19th-century gardens. An interesting feature is a World War II air raid shelter converted into an educational center.
The old stone walls conceal unique plants, including tongue fern and ivy cymbalaria. Mature trees provide habitat for birds and bats, and in autumn the berries of various shrubs provide food for local and migratory bird species.
