Freundschaftsinsel

Freundschaftsinsel is a charming green oasis in the heart of Potsdam. This 6.5-acre island was transformed between 1938 and 1940 into a beautiful display garden with more than 1,000 species of perennials and 250 varieties of irises.

This place combines history with modern design, offering visitors an outdoor stage, playground and café. Art lovers will appreciate the numerous sculptures located on the island.

During the summer season, visitors can rent a boat and admire the island from the perspective of the water. Since 1977, the island has had the status of a cultural monument, and in 2001 it was renovated for the Federal Garden Exhibition.
