Deserto de Viana

Deserto de Viana is an extraordinary sand desert on Boa Vista Island, formed from Saharan sand carried by winds from the Atlantic Ocean. White dunes reaching 50 meters in height create a surreal, lunar landscape—one of Cape Verde's seven natural wonders.

It is a paradise for adventure lovers: sandboarding down steep slopes, jumping from dunes, and hiking across 'walking' dunes that change shape under the influence of the wind. Sunsets paint the desert in magical colors, and at night the sky is lit up by millions of stars.
