Description
Bridgwater Bay National Nature Reserve is a unique nature reserve on the coast of the Bristol Channel in England.
The vast area covering more than 3,500 hectares of muddy tidal flats, brackish marshes and pebble beaches is home to an extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna.
It's a bird lover's paradise - some 190 species can be observed here, including avocets returning to Somerset after a 150-year absence. The reserve is Europe's second largest moulting ground for oharia, gathering up to 4,000 of these birds each July.
Numerous walking trails of varying levels of difficulty allow visitors to explore picturesque landscapes shaped by tidal and river forces.
