Description
National Trust - Devil's Dyke is a unique site located in the South Downs National Park. This record-breaking dry valley, the longest, deepest and widest in the UK, offers breathtaking views from 100 meters above sea level.
The site is shrouded in fascinating legends - according to one, the valley was dug by the Devil to drown Christian parishioners. Scientists say it was formed naturally during the last ice age.
For astronomy enthusiasts, it's an ideal place for stargazing, recognized as a Dark Sky Discovery Site. Also worth noting are the remains of a Victorian amusement park that once drew crowds of tourists.
