Parque Natural Monte Gordo

Parque Natural Monte Gordo is a 952-hectare national park on the island of São Nicolau, protecting the highest peak—the extinct volcano Monte Gordo (1,312 m above sea level). One of the seven natural wonders of Cape Verde, it offers a green oasis amid the arid landscapes of the archipelago.

Pine and eucalyptus forests, endemic plants and birds, terraced fields, and streams create a unique ecosystem. A network of trails leads through valleys, farms, and mountain ridges, offering spectacular views of the ocean and the island.
