Description

Hamburgisches Wattenmeer National Park is the smallest of Germany's three Wadden Sea National Parks. This unique area encompasses the islands of Neuwerk, Scharhörn and Nigehörn and features a unique intertidal ecosystem with sandy and mudflats.

The park is famous for its rich biodiversity - some 2,000 animal species live here, including 250 endemic to the salt marshes. It is a bird lover's paradise, where thousands of ducks and other species can be observed during the moulting season.

The area has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011, highlighting its importance for nature conservation and sustainable tourism.
