Description
The Scottish Lighthouse Museum is a fascinating place where history meets engineering. It is housed in the 16th-century Kinnaird Head Castle, which was converted into Scotland's first lighthouse in 1787.
The museum boasts the largest collection of lighthouse lenses in the UK and showcases the impressive history of the Stevenson family, which built 93 lighthouses over 150 years.
As you climb the spiral staircase to the top of the lighthouse, you can enjoy spectacular views and learn about the inner workings of these maritime sentinels. The original lighthouse, once powered by oil from a whale's head, remains fully operational today.
