Description
The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is one of the most important cultural sites in Europe, with the world's largest collection of Minoan artifacts.
Founded in 1883, the museum offers a fascinating journey through the history of Crete in 20 exhibition halls. Here you can admire ceramics, frescoes, sculptures and other exhibits that comprehensively depict the achievements of the Minoan civilization.
The modern, anti-seismic building, designed by Patroklos Karantinos, is a work of art in itself, reminiscent of Minoan palaces.
