Description
The Dresden Old Masters Picture Gallery is one of the most important collections of European painting in the world.
Founded in 1560 by the Prince Elector of Saxony, it has priceless works by masters such as Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt and Dürer. The jewel of the collection is Raphael's famous 'Sistine Madonna'.
The gallery building, designed by Gottfried Semper, is part of the Zwinger complex. A walk through the halls is like a fascinating journey through time through the history of European art from the 15th to the 18th century.
