Description
Enniskillen Castle is a fascinating 16th century castle located on an island in Lake Lough Erne in Northern Ireland. Originally built as a defensive fortress in 1428, it now houses two unique museums: the Fermanagh County Museum and the Inniskillings Museum, dedicated to the history of the Royal Fusiliers.
The castle impresses with its unique blend of architectural styles, including Jacobean elements evident in the three-story Water Gate with its twin towers. The Heritage Center offers award-winning exhibitions on the history, nature and landscapes of the Fermanagh region.
