Richborough Roman Fort and Amphitheatre

Richborough Roman Fort and Amphitheatre is a fascinating archaeological monument, the site of the Roman landing in Britain in 43 AD. This historic complex includes an impressive 3rd century defensive fort and an amphitheater that can accommodate up to 5,000 spectators, where gladiator fights and wild animal hunts were held.

On site you can admire the remains of a triumphal arch - one of the largest in the Roman Empire, and visit a museum displaying artifacts found during the excavations.

A replica of a wooden Roman gate was built in 2023, offering panoramic views of the surrounding walls and landscape.
