Description
Marburg University Religious Studies Collection is a unique museum showcasing the diversity of religions from around the world. Founded in 1927 by theologian Rudolf Otto, the collection includes some 10,000 artifacts, 1,500 of which are displayed in 700 m² of exhibition space.
Among the unique artifacts are an embroidered dervish ceremonial hat, a dance mask from Tibet and a statue of the Hindu god Shiva in the form of Nataraja (Lord of the Dance).
The museum regularly holds thematic exhibitions, such as 'Tibet in Marburg' and 'Diversity in Islamic Religious Practices,' which provide a deeper insight into the fascinating world of beliefs and traditions.
