Fossil Grove

Fossil Grove is a unique natural history museum located in Glasgow's Victoria Park. It showcases a remarkable collection of fossilized tree trunks from the Carboniferous period, some 330 million years old.

Discovered in 1887 during the construction of the park, eleven fossilized Lepidodendron trunks were secured with a special building as early as 1889. These fascinating fossils are the inner casts of hollow lycopods, which were something like 'giant tentacle mosses.
