Description
Unterlinden Museum is a unique cultural institution in the heart of Colmar, housed in a 13th-century Dominican convent and former public bath building dating back to 1906.
The museum's most valuable exhibit is the famous Isenheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald, a masterpiece of the German Renaissance.
The collection spans nearly 7,000 years of art history, from prehistoric finds to modern art, with a special focus on medieval and Renaissance art of the Upper Rhine. After a 2015 renovation, designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the exhibition space was almost doubled.
